Complete the following exercise 3–5 times per day, for approximately 5 minutes per session.

Setup

  • Use a long line or flexi lead for safety and control.

  • Ensure your dog is motivated and hungry—use high-value food rewards.

  • Have the e-collar fitted properly and turned on, set to the dog’s working level.

Step-by-Step Process

  • Attach the long line or flexi lead to your dog’s collar or harness.

  • Get your dog’s attention.
Make sure they’re focused and ready to engage.

  • Toss a piece of food out in front of you, approximately 2–3 metres away.

  • Allow the dog to run forward and eat the food.
Keep the lead loose and avoid interfering.

  • As soon as the dog finishes the food,
give your recall command and press and hold the stim button at the same time.

  • As the dog turns and begins to return to you,
mark the behaviour with a verbal “yes!” or a clicker.

  • When the dog reaches you and completes the recall,
    release the stim button.

  • Reward generously.
Give a treat, praise, or a toy—whatever motivates your dog most.

  • Repeat the process for several repetitions within the 5-minute session.

Tips:

  • Keep your tone upbeat and recall cue consistent.

  • Use the long line if the dog ignores the recall or hesitates.

  • End the session while the dog is still eager and engaged.

Consistency is key. End on a win. Finish on a jackpot.
